Bottecchia ist ein italienischer Radhersteller aus Cavarzere, der im Jahr 1926 sein erstes Produkt auf den Markt brachte. Die Schmiede existiert noch heute.

Der Handwerker und Radmechaniker Teodoro Carnielli lerne jedoch schon viel früher den talentierten Rennfahrer Ottavio Bottecchia kennen und man beschloss zusammen ein Rad für große Rennen zu konstruieren. Ottavio Bottecchia, war dann auch der erste Italiener, der 1924 und 1925 die Tour de France gewann. 1926 verstarb er leider und Carnielli beschloss, die Firma und dem Namen seines Freundes zu führen. Bottecchia erarbeitete sich schnell einen guten Ruf für handwerklich perfekt gearbeitete Rahmen.

1989 war es dann der große Greg Lemond, der auf einem Bottecchia Equipe die Tour de France gewann.

Dieses Rad hier ist ein sehr seltenes Teamrad der amerikanischen SPGO Mannschaft. Spago war eine Restaurantkette der etwas ausgefalleneren Art in den USA. Dementsprechend waren auch die Rahmen des Team - sagen wir mal auffallend extravagant lackiert. Sie fielen zu dieser Zeit im Peloton auf jeden Fall auf. Fahrer wie Bobby Julich oder Andy Bishop waren in ihrer Karriere in den Farben des Teams unterwegs. Technisch ist dieser aus Columbus SL gefertigte Rahmen- typisch Bottecchia - super verarbeitet. Der Gabelkopf mit dem markanten "B" unverwechselbar.

Aufgebaut ist der Klassiker mit einer Campagnolo C-Record Gruppe. Das Team ist das Rad so Anfang der Neunziger gefahren. Der Zustand des Rades ist gut, jedoch wurde es gefahren und der Lack hat an einigen Stelle kleine Abplatzer. Die Campagnolo Gruppe zeigt ebenfalls Gebrauchsspuren.
